“On The Cliff” wins Dota 2 Short Film Contest 2018, takes $25,000
After a community vote, the film “On The Cliff,” directed by Keller Max, has won the Dota 2 Short Film Contest this year.
Taking on a comedic approach, “On The Cliff” shows the struggles of several Dota 2 heroes as a Rubick uses his Telekinesis to place them on the cliff — a common struggle in public Dota 2 matches. The winning team behind the flick will receive $25,000.
The second and third place awards, respectively, went to “Ursa Minor,” directed by Alexander Frey, and “GLHF,” by 4fun and Septimus. “Ursa Minor” shows the hopes and dreams of Lone Druid and a small cub, and “GLHF” hypes up — and plays along with — the intensity before a Dota 2 match. The second place team will receive $10,000, and the third takes $5,000.
The rest of the top ten filmmaker teams will all also receive $500 each.
It’ll be the first year that Max2SD, a well-known Dota 2 Workshop animator, won’t be at the top of the contest — or even place. But the competition was tough — so congrats to all who entered, and especially all ten winners!
