The Valiant and the Shock will face off in the first ever Overwatch California Cup

The Overwatch League may be deep into the off-season, but that doesn’t mean the teams aren’t eager to compete, as we saw on Friday when the Los Angeles Valiant and the San Francisco Shock announced the first ever Overwatch California Cup.

The event is intended to be a home-and-home style skirmish event between these two California teams that each represent a different section of the state. Along with the two matches, which will see each team host one side, the Cup will also feature fan meet and greets, merchandise and amateur tournaments.

The southern portion of the tournament, put together and hosted by the LA Valiant will be hosted in Orange County at the Esports Arena in Santa Ana, California on Oct. 20. Meanwhile, the northern half of the tournament will be hosted by the San Francisco Shock at the Esports Arena Oakland, in Oakland, California on November 10 and 11. Tickets for the event will range from 25 to 75 and will allow fans to do things from simply watching the games all the way up to accessing the VIP Lounge.

While this home-and-home series may be the beginning of the California Cup, it certainly won’t be the end. The prize will consistently be up for grabs throughout the Overwatch League’s second season any time these two teams face off.
