United Masters League Season 2 announced with $150,000 prize pool
The first season of the United Masters League concluded with the crowning of Valiance (now CR4ZY) as champions back in March. Since then, the tournament organisers have adopted a fresh and improved format from season one with the input of past competing teams.
For season two, the UML organisers are dropping the LAN finals as the tournament will be played online in its entirety, with the total prize money remaining the same from the first edition.
The tournament will be split into three phases, the first of which featuring weekly $15,000 GSL qualifiers over a total of four weeks. Eight initial invited teams will be divided into two groups, with the top two sides then competing in a playoff bracket to determine which pair will progress to the next stage, while the remaining teams will return the following week along with two additional challengers.
CR4ZY won the first edition of the UML while still playing under Valiance
Phase two will host a Swiss-style league which will include a 16-team lineup. In it, eight qualified sides from the previous phase will be joined by eight invited teams, with the participants squaring off in best-of-three matches across a five-week period to determine eight sides.
The United Masters League Season 2 will culminate with a final stage, where eight teams will battle it out in a single-elimination bracket for the $50,000 grand prize.
“Unikrn is a proud investor in developing rising esports talent,” said Unikrn CEO Rahul Sood.
“UML Season 1 created opportunity and experience which propelled several participating teams up the CS:GO rankings — creating opportunities for players at every level is core to Unikrn’s esports-first mentality.”
The participating teams will be announced across August and September, with the initial phase of the tournament set to begin on October 2.
